Challenge 14 – 3 Lakes Challenge – August 2018

The 3 Lakes Challenge started at Lake Bala/Tegid a distance of 12km, followed by Lake Windermere, 18km and Loch Awe 40km. These three Lakes are the longest Lakes in Wales, England and Scotland!

I have to admit I have struggled with this challenge, and due to my lack of balance I paddled the majority on my knees, testing my physical upper body and leg strength.

There was a dark moment, when I experienced fear and questioned whether I could continue?

I dug deep, found words and mantras to keep me motivated and drew on the kindness and support of my fellow companions.

Our paddle board #DJNaills asked what song I would like to hear …there was only one that could be played “I Remember” by Deadmau5, Robs fave! Sitting in the middle of Lock Awe we jiggled on our paddle boards – a magical moment!

Each of us faced a challenge and we rose to it.  On finishing, our emotions overtook us, with tears and group hugs. We did it!

I would like to thank Sian @psychedpaddleboarding for instructing, guiding, pushing us on and being an inspiring role model to us all.  Al our support crew, who made our breakfast, drove us around, made much needed cups of tea, looked after us – the most kindest, loveliest person. To my fellow team members, Sue, Jen, Vicki (aka Dory) – so many laughs and giggling – Thankyou x

and special thanks to Rugby canoe club, Brian, Andy and Charlie for your patience, support and coaching.

Thank you to all who have supported us, thus far – If you would like to donate, can spare a few pennies – the justgiving sites are on the home page www.4Robin.co.uk
